Do I need to be able to access the web from my phone?
Yes, Bup Backup can only work with web enabled cell phones. AT&T charges 1 cent/kb. Sprint/Nextel charges 1 cent/kb. T-Mobile requires that you sign up for a data plan (currently $5 per month for 5MB of data). Most Canadian phones provide web access by default. For Amp'd, Boost, Virgin and other carriers, web access status is unknown at this time. Click supported phones for a list of phones we currently support.

How many contacts can I save?
Bup Backup does not limit the number or size of contacts you can save. Each phone will have its own limit to the number of contacts it can store. This limit is based on the memory in the phone and what memory is used for other parts of the phone such as games. Many older phones (more than 2 years old) can store at least 300 contacts and newer phones can store many more.

What do I do if I lose my phone?
When you lose your phone, we recommend that you use your PC sign-in to the Bup Backup web site and change your PIN. This prevents anyone else from accessing your online contacts or sending your PIN to your phone (which is now in their posession). Use of Bup from your phone requires the PIN for deleting of all contacts. You can configure Bup to require your PIN to be entered every time you use it from your phone or you can store the PIN on the phone. If you stored your PIN on the phone, use your PC to sign-in to the website and set the Kill Switch located under the Account Preferences menu. The PIN stored on your phone is not displayed unless you use the Forgot PIN feature on the website to send the PIN to your phone.
